A lieu-dit is a named place, often referring to a specific vineyard site. In Bourgogne, these names offer a closer look at the landscape behind the label, where neighbouring plots can differ in soil, slope, elevation and exposure.

Such differences can influence how grapes ripen and how a wine expresses itself. Comparing wines from the same village, vintage and winemaker helps focus attention on the vineyard’s potential contribution, although viticulture and winemaking choices can also shape the result.

Lieu-dit is not itself a quality classification: a named site is not automatically a Premier Cru. This tasting brings those distinctions into the glass, encouraging you to explore both the labels and the wines behind them.
