🏯 About Nikka

Founded in 1934 by Masataka Taketsuru, Nikka grew from its founder’s study of whisky-making in Scotland and his ambition to craft whisky in Japan. Its two malt distilleries offer contrasting styles: Yoichi in Hokkaido is known for robust, peaty whiskies produced using direct coal-fired distillation, while Miyagikyo, established near Sendai in 1969, produces a softer, more floral and fruity style. Named in honour of its founder, the Taketsuru range reflects Nikka’s expertise in blending malt whiskies.
