Description
What happens when a nearly extinct grape gets a second life? Discover a different side of Bordeaux as La Vieille Chapelle takes over the terrace at Louise for one night only.
Explore four wines, from an oak-aged Sémillon to characterful reds that put old vines and forgotten varieties in the spotlight. Meet the winemaker, hear the stories behind the bottles and enjoy nibbles by Louise.
The star of the show? Bouchalès, a rare grape offering a taste of Bordeaux’s past through a vibrant, wild expression of raspberry and dark fruit.

🍇 About La Vieille Chapelle
Set on the banks of the Dordogne in Lugon-et-l’Île-du-Carnay, on Bordeaux’s Right Bank, Château de la Vieille Chapelle is a wine estate and hospitality destination centred around a 12th-century Romanesque chapel. Fabienne and Frédéric Mallier took over the property in 2006, making it their home.
The estate spans approximately 21 to 22 hectares, with Demeter-certified biodynamic vineyards forming part of the property. Old vines and forgotten varieties are central to its identity, with the rare Bouchalès grape alongside Merlot and Sémillon. From oak-aged whites to fresh, expressive reds, its wines offer a distinctive perspective on Bordeaux’s vineyard heritage.
