🍇 About Château Les Carmes Haut-Brion

An historic Pessac-Léognan estate within Bordeaux’s city limits, Château Les Carmes Haut-Brion occupies a rare walled urban vineyard. Its name recalls the Carmelite community that owned the property from 1584 until the French Revolution. The sheltered setting creates a distinctive microclimate, helping protect the vines from spring frosts and encouraging early ripening.

Acquired by the Pichet family in 2010, the estate entered a new chapter of vineyard renewal and cellar investment. Under Guillaume Pouthier’s direction, this transformation brought together its historic setting and a contemporary approach to winemaking, symbolised by the striking cellar designed by Philippe Starck.
