🍇 About The Starting Point

Founded in 2015 by winemaker Reisa Jiang, The Starting Point is a small-production winery in Ningxia’s Helan Mountain region, China, with some of the region’s oldest vines, imported from France and planted in 1997. Producing fewer than 10,000 bottles annually, it follows a low-carbon, minimal-intervention approach to vineyard management and winemaking, avoiding chemical additives, including sulphur dioxide.
Riesling is its calling card, alongside an orange wine aged in underground qvevri clay vessels and small-batch reds. Its Chinese name, “源點”, reflects its surroundings: the three water dots in “源” symbolise the Yellow River, while the four dots beneath “點” represent the Helan Mountains.
